Ruggable Review 2022: Are Their Washable Rugs Right For You?
As with many other products these days, carpet prices have increased slightly over the past few months. For example, this 6ft by 9ft rug I bought would now cost around $319 instead of $299. You might be tempted to save some money and buy a Ruggable mattress topper without a pillow, but just using the mattress topper could be a dangerous tripping or slipping hazard without something to hold it in place – it will definitely slip. We recommend other more affordable washable rugs, including rag rugs and flatweave rugs, but they are cotton, are heavier when wet, and shrink more easily. The Ruggables are polyester, with a polyurethane coating to help them repel water, and we’ve only seen minor shrinkage in ours (just make sure you don’t wash them in hot water or dry them at high temperature). Also, our other washable picks don’t come with underpads – you still need to purchase them separately (heavier cotton rugs may be more forgiving to use without underpads, but we still recommend using some) a). If you’re going for a Ruggable, we’ve seen them discounted for Black Friday and at various times throughout the year, and discount codes aren’t hard to come by. Sometimes customer service reps distribute them even after a live chat. “I’ve always been of the opinion that you should probably get 15% off Ruggable mats at some point,” says Nathan Burrow, editor of Wirecutter Deals. “They’re handing out that 15% like candy.” Senior analyst Amie Wong and editor Kalee Thompson also recommend checking out Facebook Marketplace for used Ruggables if your budget is tight.
