Critics are in for the West End revival Jerusalemwritten by Jez Butterworth, which opened at the Apollo Theater on April 28. The limited engagement started previews on April 16 and has a limited engagement until August 7.
Mark Rylance and Mackenzie Crook, reprising their roles as Johnny “Rooster” Byron and Ginger respectively, star in the West End return.
Jerusalem follows wanted man Johnny Byron as he deals with officials who want to deport him, his son who wants to go to the fair with him, Troy Whitworth who wants revenge and a gang of pals who wants his supply of drugs and alcohol in the morning, the local fair kicks off to celebrate St. George’s Day.

Ian Rickson directs production which features the return of the show’s original creative team, including designer ULTZ, lighting designer Mimi Jordan Sherin, composer Stephen Warlock, sound designer Ian Dickinson for Autograph and the director of cast Amy Ball. The production is presented by Sonia Friedman Productions and the Royal Court Theatre.
