MENLO PARK, California, December 1, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Netsia Inc. (Netsia) and the Open networks foundation (ONF) today announced its latest software-defined network operator deployment with Türk Telekom, Turkey World-class, first and largest integrated telecom operator. With the implementation of Netsia Broadband Suite (Netsia BB Suite), the ONF, Türk Telekom and Netsia are pursuing the development of a disaggregated fixed broadband access network based on the SDN compatible broadband access (SEBA) reference architecture throughout Turkey.

The open and disaggregated SEBA architecture allows operators to choose components from different vendors, providing them with choice and flexibility throughout the lifespan of the deployment. This translates into significant savings, increased flexibility, lock-out avoidance and a better overall customer experience.

Netsia, a Türk Telekom company and one of the main contributors to the ONF’s SEBA / VOLTHA platform, offers its BB suite with carrier-class capabilities. BB Suite is a telecom level solution for broadband access which is being deployed by Türk Telekom and which will extend to one million households across Turkey. Netsia’s field-proven access technology is supported by end-to-end lifecycle management of access network devices. It enables multi-vendor deployment of fixed access network capabilities and, through software-defined network capabilities, enables service deployment, capacity allocation / reallocation, and rapid issue resolution.

After 18 months of small-scale production network testing, Netsia now operates Türk Telekom’s virtual broadband access network as a new platform with full backend integration including OSS / BSS. In addition to the impressive download speeds, the network supports multimedia services – which the pandemic has shown us to be essential for several use cases such as distance education and working from home. In addition, thanks to virtualization technology, Türk Telekom has prepared its fiber infrastructure for the upcoming demands of 5G networks.

This announcement represents another important step in the commercialization of ONF’s SEBA and VOLTHA, ensuring that operators now have a choice of robust and scalable solutions to deploy open disaggregated broadband PON solutions.

“I am delighted to see Türk Telekom expanding its commercial software-defined access network with the Netsia Broadband suite, designed by SEBA, to support one million homes while benefiting from reduced operating costs and reduced operating costs. the complexity illustrated by SEBA. We congratulate Türk Telekom and Netsia for their efforts. for excellence throughout the project and truly delivered on the promise of a next-generation broadband access network. “
Guru Parulkar, Director General of the ONF

“Today, Türk Telekom has become a technology developer instead of being a simple consumer through its subsidiaries. With Netsia and the ONF ecosystem, we have developed a new platform called SEBA, which adds intelligence Türk Telekom’s access network and virtualizes it.Both where capacity and speed are paramount for subscribers, SEBA technology will play a key role in fiber infrastructure for Turk Telekom and other operators around the world .At Turk Telekom, we wanted to use SEBA commercially because it allows us to shorten the time to market for new services and avoid provider blockage, and for this reason we have encouraged and guided Netsia towards this goal. The extension of Netsia BB Suite for a Million Households is just a humble step in our vision for the future. The project has improved the user experience for learning, work and entertainment, benefiting thousands. ier customers in their everyday life. ”
Yusuf Kıraç, CTO at Türk Telekom

“We are proud to be a part of this very exciting time as we collectively open the closed doors of the PON access network to innovation and collaboration with the use of open source. As an active player in the community of open access networks, we are proud to present our Broadband Suite solution, based on the ONF SEBA architecture, operator-grade, disaggregated and virtualized broadband management. We would like to thank ONF for bringing the community together and leading the change, and to Turk Telekom for sharing the same vision and trusting us in such a critical part of their access network.
Bülent Kaytaz, CEO of Netsia
