Home decor tips: Paint expert shares wall color to avoid ‘putting people off!’

Choosing a color to paint yours can be a tricky task; some opt for neutrals while others are brave enough to go bold. Express.co.uk spoke to Michael Rolland, interiors expert and managing director of The Paint Shed, an online and commercial paint retailer, about the most attractive colors. He talked about a recent study conducted by The Paint Shed that revealed the top 10 colors that homeowners wouldn’t want to see inside a home.
Michael said: “When it comes to mass appeal, the bright and the bold miss the mark.
“It’s important to remember that when selling a property, viewers need to be able to imagine their own life inside that house so they can envision it as their own home.
“If a seller has put their personal preferences all the way in the way of bright colors or wacky wallpaper, buyers won’t just have a hard time imagining their goods and themselves in the space.
“They will also consider the cost of redecorating which, after other costs associated with buying a property, will not persuade them to make an offer,” he added.
“We, The Paint Shed, recently carried out a study which asked UK residents which colors would deter them from bidding on a property.
“Fuschia, a bright pink, came out on top with nearly half of respondents choosing this shade out of the 60 presented to them.”
