Battlefield 2042 loses more than 70% of its active players in two weeks
Battlefield 2042 players are fleeing the game in droves. Leaving technical issues aside, Battlefield 2042 was a big hit when it was first released, ranking among the top five most played titles on Steam and something similar on Xbox Live when it was released.
Currently, over 70% of the game’s active users have left the game within the first ten days of launch. According to Steam DB, the maximum number of simultaneous Battlefield players for the previous 24 hours was 24,430, a decrease from the game’s launch day peak of 105,397 concurrent players. Losing players after launching a game is quite common for most games, but the speed at which it happened is a cause for alarm in this case. Since Battlefield 2042 is also available on the Origin and Epic Games Store, these numbers are based on Steam sales only. Because there is no player count for the other services, we cannot say for sure if the situation is the same on these platforms as on others. However, we already know that Steam is the platform that handles the most traffic, so the stats on those platforms shouldn’t be particularly impressive.
However, according to True Achievements, only 43% of Xbox gamers were able to reach level 15, which is a fairly steady growth milestone that can be easily achieved within a few days of playing time. According to the results, only 22% of participants managed to reach level 25. On PlayStation, things are a bit better, with 36% of players winning the Tier 25 trophy.
As a result, several gamers have complained that public games are more crowded with AI bots than they are used to, even when cross-play is allowed. DICE has committed to releasing a patch for the game in early December, which will be the most significant update yet.
