Applications invited for members of the Physical Planning Authority
The Virgin Islands government seeks qualified individuals to serve as members of the Physical Planning Authority.
The Planning Authority was established under the Planning Act 2004 to promote the objective of facilitating the progressive and orderly planning and regulation of the territory while ensuring the protection of the environment .
Prospective candidates should note that in contributing to the governance and policy direction of the Physical Planning Authority, they should bring particular talents, skills and knowledge such as experience, understanding of procedures basic Authority, business and an enthusiasm for the work of the organization, willingness to learn authority skills, technical skills and listening skills.
Applicants must reside in the Virgin Islands and meet all eligibility requirements. Applicants must also have the professional skills and a balance of skills that match the mandate and responsibilities of the physical planning authority.
The members of the authority must have the required knowledge, experience and/or training in the sectors of spatial planning, including spatial planning issues; environmental, coastal and marine issues; agriculture; commerce and industry; economic and financial issues; Crown lands; Lodging; infrastructure and public services; and other areas relevant to land use planning.
Bachelor’s degree and seven to ten years of experience in urban planning, architecture, building design, building engineering; and/or a minimum of eight years’ experience as a professional in a field of the above physical development sectors is required, along with a demonstrable understanding of physical and land development.
