The FCT Police Command has advised residents of Abuja to find alternative routes to certain areas leading to Eagle Square, the site of the APC national convention.
In a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the police said residents of Abuja will witness a heavy presence of its personnel more than usual.
The ruling APC is expected to hold its primary elections from Monday to Wednesday with at least 5,000 people expected to grace the event.
According to police, some of the diverted routes include Goodluck Jonathan Highway, NITEL Junction, Bayelsa House and NNPC Towers among others.
Police added that deployments will be made at various traffic checkpoints to facilitate smooth traffic flow, stop and search, and vehicle and foot patrols, among others.

FCT POLICE REVEALS TRAFFIC DIVERSION POINTS AS PART OF SECURITY ARCHITECTURE IN PLACE FOR 2022 APC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ELECTION.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential primary election is scheduled for Monday, June 6 through Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in Eagle’s Square. The event is often associated with a large influx of people of various calibers, especially politicians, thus necessitating an argument from the operational security architecture of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In view of the above, to effectively monitor the territory in the envisaged period and beyond, a comprehensive security deployment has been carried out. Features of this security arrangement include the placement of traffic diversions at strategic locations around the event grounds as follows;

Police Commissioner CP Babaji Sunday Psc. while registering the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the relative peace and tranquility enjoyed and an impetus in the forward march against crime and criminality in the Territory, urged everyone to avoid all forms of violence in the period in view and beyond.
