A workshop to help businesses improve the customer experience is December 7
CARBONDALE, Ill. – Experts say businesses can easily lose sales because they fail to make a good first impression on customers. A hybrid workshop designed to help retailers be more successful is scheduled for next month courtesy of the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
The free event “Create a Customer Experience (Indoor & Outdoor)!” Is 8 am to 9:30 am on December 7. Participants can attend in person at the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center,
1740 Innovation Drive in Carbondale, or via Zoom. Registration begins at 7:30 am The SIU is committed to protecting the community, so those attending the in-person workshop should follow current campus and state safety protocols in the event of a pandemic and wear masks.
“We are excited to bring an award-winning consultant to campus who will present a wealth of practical advice to help retailers grow their businesses,” said Greg Bouhl, Director of Entrepreneurship and Business Development.

Lyn Falk, president of RetailWorks Inc., an award-winning interior design, branding and consulting firm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will be the guest speaker. She has shared her expertise in retail design, consumer behavior, business science and environmental psychology with retailers, businesses and professionals for over 30 years, helping them create retail spaces. more attractive, productive and useful in helping people sell goods.
Its customers are a diverse group and include more than 35 major industries such as Harley-Davidson, Mercury Marine, Miller Brewing Company, SC Johnson, Kohler Company and Road America, as well as hundreds of small independent businesses.
Suzanne Rafenstein, an expert with more than 35 years of experience in supporting traders, will also share her knowledge.
